Model 889 is the latest Hydrostatic model in the Stargate series from BCS. The Stargate series set out to redefine the two-wheel tractor with a focus on Performance, Reliability, Ergonomics, Safety, & Ease of Use. Like the 780, Model 889 features an updated and compact hydrostatic transmission, the PowerSafe hydro-mechanical clutch, AND more ergonomic reversible handlebars for both front- and rear-mount attachments. Comfortable grips, contoured levers and add anti-vibration make operation over long periods much easier on the operator.

Designed with a single speed range for a simplified user experience. With a top speed of 3.3 mph in the front-mount position (3.0 in rear-mount), the 889 is ideal for extensive mowing or snow-removal applications.

• Hydrostatic transmissions allow the machine’s speed to be continuously adjusted without having to stop and change gears. The continuous variation of speed in either direction occurs independently of the PTO and engine RPM.

• The 889 employs the comfortable “EasyGrip” hydro lever on the handlebar for instantaneous changes to ground speed and direction of travel without altering the performance of the attachment and without the need to shift gears or change the throttle setting.

• With a monolithic transmission structure made of light alloy, the machine is easily maneuverable and more compact than other hydrostatic units. This innovation allowed for an active and passive oil cooling system inside of the gearbox and via airflow from a dedicated fan without the need for external cooling coils.

• The PTO is mechanically connected to the engine for minimal energy dissipation, allowing for more power to be transferred through fewer gears directly to the attachment for better performance.

• Operationally, hydrostatic drive is a real game changer. Not only is the single lever control ultimately user-friendly (and fun), it also expands the functionality and productivity of the BCS attachments.

• Example 1: When mowing the “outback” with the rotary brush mower, the engine is always at full throttle to assure maximum blade tip speed. As you move from tall weeds to woody brush, use the hydro lever to reduce your ground speed; thereby increasing the number of “cuts” per forward foot of travel. This overcomes the greater resistance of the brush, followed by the ability to instantly return to your higher weed-mowing speed.

• Example 2: When trimming under fences, bushes, or low-lying limbs, the necessary back-and-forth motion of the mower is as simple as moving the hydro lever forward and backward.
